Bring The Generations Project to Your Organization!
Partnered Programs
The Generations Project produces customized programs for colleges, corporations and other organizations, including storytelling shows, workshops and speaker series (virtual or in-person), that allow LGBTQ+ people and allies of all ages, sexual and gender identities to build empathy and solidarity, learn about LGBTQ+ history, and feel part of a global, multi-faceted community. We have produced recurring programs with businesses like Google, Twitter, Tinder, Verizon, Dow Jones, TripleLift and Bloomberg, and with colleges and community organizations like SAGE, Brooklyn Museum, NYU, the NY Historical Society and AARP.
Programs Types:
Live Storytelling Shows
Typically curated around a topic or theme (Coming Out, Activism, LGBTQ+ Work and Career), we work with your team to design a custom show concept, then recruit and coach 3-6 storytellers from different generations and backgrounds, representing the spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities, to share personal, historical stories about their experiences and perspectives. These shows can be planned around holidays or awareness months, e.g. Pride Month, Women’s History Month, Juneteenth, Veteran’s Day, and can be in-person or virtual. We create a script to frame the conversation, provide an emcee/moderator and optional musical entertainment to enhance the experience.
Speaker Series
Instead of one large group-format showcase, we curate an ongoing series of monthly, quarterly or seasonal storytelling events, each highlighting one master storyteller around a relevant topic or theme. We provide promotional materials, a moderator to introduce and frame the conversation, and facilitate a guided Q&A with your team.
Interactive Workshops
A combination of DEI, cultural competency training and team-building exercises, these sessions involve guided group discussion and/or fun, accessible writing prompts to foster an environment of open sharing, empathy and understanding. These workshops can also incorporate a live or pre-recorded story by a TGP master storyteller to spark the conversation, and provide the greatest opportunity for participation and free self-expression of your team.
Storycrafting Workshops
Bring up to 12 participants from your team together to meet once a week for 4 weeks, to mine their experiences, share and learn from each others’ diverse backgrounds, and develop 5-10 minute confident and polished spoken-word stories, to be shared at an internal storytelling show within your Employee Resource Group or wider organization. These programs facilitate a more direct, personal approach to creating empathy and solidarity among your team, and can also be thematic or topical.
